An Impressive Record:
Steve has an impressive record of achievement fighting for the people of Ohio- the state of his birth and home. He took a leadership role within the General Assembly after just one year, forming a Caucus of Freshman legislators. In addition, he was able to pass a bill -- as a freshman legislator in the minority party -- that creates free license plates for Purple Heart recipients. He also has introduced eight bills and worked across party lines to better the lives of the people of the 43rd District and Ohio. He is currently working on legislation to fix the school funding system. In addition, he has held several town hall meetings and assisted hundreds of citizens with a wide range of issues.
Prior to his service in the statehouse, Steve reported on issues facing Ohioans for nearly a decade with the Akron Beacon Journal, dutifully uncovering corruption and protecting our working families who have made this state and country great. Steve received a Pulitzer Prize nomination along with two other reporters for a series of stories called Ohio: Look At The State We're In, which sought solutions to Ohio's troubling slide in many quality of life measures.
Steve received his B.A. in English from Tufts University, his M.A. in Journalism from Kent State University and his J.D. from the University of Akron. Steve is a practicing attorney.
His wife, Melissa, is a Registered Nurse who teaches at Akron and Kent State. They have a three-year-old son, Logan, and live in Green.
